Away, but not forgotten

With all the best intentions in the world I just haven't found the time to add any updates here.
I have just released a whole batch of really lovely new blankets, and they can all be found on the website. I WILL come back and add pictures here as soon as I get a spare moment.
I am really pleased because we are about to start stocking some adorable knitted toys by Pebble. My only concern now is to stop curious hands and pleading eyes begging for me to let them have all the knitted cakes and doughnuts to play with.
Pebble make some lovely knitted food and the knitted cakes are no strangers to our household. If you love cupcakes anywhere near as much as I do you will love the knitted cakes.

I will readily admit that I am not a good knitter

Nonetheless I love sitting outside in the sunshine knitting.
Knitting needles have the same allure as guitars (I can almost completely not play the guitar at all). Knitting and guitars are take along things.. unlike pianos and sewing machines. Apart from the fact that I am not a great knitter I do periodically lurk with admiration on a few knitting blogs, and this Summer I did actually spend many an evening in a tent knitting... squares with the intention of finding the time to sew them all together.
To compensate for my lack of speedy knitting ability and prowess I have cheated. I managed to get my hands on a small amount of absolutely gorgeous cotton flannel fabric that I think sadly is now no longer available to buy from any suppliers that I know of. I have already made one blanket and will be making a limited quantity more over the next couple of weeks. This is very much a wintery design and makes me think of crackling fires, snowy log cabins and hot chocolate. I am giving you sneak peak of my 'knitted' effect blanket...

... but this will not be added to the shop until it is officially cold enough to shiver and buy the boots that I have my eye on but are rather too expensive to justify buying when it is still sunny and warm(ish) outside.

Bibs ....

Our new collection of bibs is nearly ready, in fact the first batch are done, and have all been posing nicely for their photos... They still need to be added to the shop and you will definitely be able to find them all by the end of the week.

For now here is a sneak peak of a couple of my favourites.

Update on our site.. we did get lost in cyber space for a couple of days, but managed to get back on course. The Summer go slow has come to an end, but we are keeping the Summer discount up for a few more days due to a technical hitch with our labels. We had to change label companies and rather foolishly opted for the most 'attractive' looking quote... lesson learned the 'best value' is not always all that it seems. I really hope that there will be no more problems and our new labels arrive swiftly. Until they do arrive we hope you continue to enjoy our Summer discount.

Today is the day...

The old website has had a bit of a facelift. It really did need a lick of paint and we are putting the new improved website up later today. Fingers crossed that we haven't vanished into cyber space ...

All being well the website should be easier to view (please let me know if it isn't!).
Despite the Summer go slow I have had a few hairy moments with stocks running low. All orders have now been dispatched, and if you were one of the people who had to wait a couple of days extra for your blankets thank you for being patient. I hope all your babies love their new blankets!

I have had a long think and I have decided to scrap delivery charges on a permanent basis. To be honest I hate shopping on the web only to discover I have to pay more at checkout.

There are still a couple more weeks left of our Summer discount, so if you want to stock up on fluffy things, now is the time. Be aware that it may be a week before we can dispatch your order as we are in the very last throes of the Summer holidays. It may not be hot but we might be out jumping in puddles or something.

I am too ashamed to post a picture ...

I was watching Little Tee (my littlest little one) pretending his TeddySkin blanket was sand and stuffing it into an empty waste paper bin and turning the waste paper bin upside down and patting its base vigorously (like a beach bucket) as the blanket flumped out in a dishevelled heap he proudly announced that he had made a castle... it never fails to amaze me how much amusement his blankie gives him. I am also fascinated by the fact that he actually calls it a 'Cuggy'. As I don't own a copy of 'Timid Tim and the Cuggy Thief' I have just ordered a copy (second hand from Amazon market place) .... but I digress... Little Tee owns the first TeddySkin blanket I ever made and although it's design has changed a little, it remains in essence the same. His total and utter love of it is is really touching. However despite the many priceless moments of watching him play with it I am too ashamed to post a picture of it here because after a couple of days of being dragged around it really is a disgrace. In fairness it washes up clean and fluffy and smelling sweetly of fresh laundry (which he doesn't seem to mind)... but in between its frequent washes is another story.

Summer Go Slow...

It would be lovely if I could put the Summer go slow down to sizzling hot summer days, but it is simply that from our (slightly wet) hide away in North Wales, the school holidays and having to juggle work and family something has got to give. I am not complaining too much about the weather as we escaped to France for a couple of weeks, which has given me lots of French inspiration (but no time to put my ideas into action).
The website is being overhauled and the new TeddySkins are on the drawing board (or rather on the cutting table) ready to be added to the website next month.
I will also be adding our amazing fleece bibs next month. These bibs do deserve to be described as amazing because they really resist stains, even after they have been bombarded with tomato, carrot or any other scary mess.

I have a secret...

Well actually a secret stash of Liberty fabric...

Liberty fabric is one of my greatest weaknesses and I find it almost impossible to resist. I have had my stash for some time and have been trying to decide what I should do with it.
I finally made up my mind to combine it with some beautiful white pointelle cotton. I have had several request for lighter weight cotton blankets, and hopefully these blankets which are 100% cotton will fit the bill. They are perfect for summer days.

Update...
These blankets have now sold out ... I will be making some more and adding them to the site when I get a chance. If you are really desperate to get hold of one please email me via the website. They are 100% cotton and the front is made from genuine Liberty cotton jersey fabric. They measure approximately 68cm by 90cm and they are priced at £38.75, this includes the cost of postage.
